A cloudy morning calls for sprinkles

Chloe wanted oatmeal when she went to bed last night.  This morning, she is requesting pancakes.  Oh the joys of having indecisive children.  Wait, are they all like this?

Pancakes at our house are always fun.  Sometimes we add sprinkles to the batter or we add chucks of fruit; such as raspberries, bananas or apples.  I have also added a dollop of peanut butter or jam to the mix.  Be creative and try new things.

Homemade pancake batter is great, but Aunt Jemima is an expert, so we use her batter.  I like to add a little vanilla and cinnamon to the mix (it doesn't call for it, but I like to experiment).  It adds to the taste of the pancake.  Today we added sprinkles to the mix, to brighten up the morning.

See how pretty the sprinkles are!

I like that the pancakes are colourful and the sprinkles withstand the heat of the frying pan.  If you are shopping for sprinkles, they must be the rainbow décors.  If you use the shinny, sugar sprinkles, they melt.

Here they are!  What do you think?  Fluffy and colourful :)  You can cut them into strips and give a small dish with syrup for dipping or into squares and drizzle the syrup on top of the pancakes.

Add some fruit and a yogurt.  Breakfast is served.  Oliver ate three pancakes, Evan ate one and a half and Chloe ate two.  I would say that breakfast was successful.

Enjoy your day :)
